Osteen, Florida · One farm · Raw

You know the farm.
You know the cow.

Raw beef for dogs, made and sold by Freedom Range Farms — grass-fed, grass-finished, never given antibiotics or growth hormones, and butchered on the ground it grazed.

Same herd. Same standard. Your dog just gets a different cut.

One farm, one herd. The cattle are raised out in open country about an hour north of Osteen, where there is room to run them on grass. The butcher drives to them; only the finished quarters travel, back to the farm's own processing station in Osteen.

Single source

Freedom Range Farms, Osteen

A working family farm based in Osteen, Florida, running grass-fed cattle alongside pastured pork, pastured chickens, laying hens and dairy goats. It sells direct — a farm store, quarter cow shares, and its own processing station on the Osteen site.

The cattle themselves are not in Osteen. They are raised about an hour north, out in open country where the farm has the acreage to run small groups on grass — and that is also where they are harvested. A mobile butcher drives out to the herd and works on the ground the animal grazed. The quarters then come back to Osteen to be cut, blended, portioned and frozen.

That order matters more than it sounds. Conventional slaughter means loading a live animal onto a truck and hauling it to a plant, which is the most stressful hour of its life. Here the truck comes to the animal, and nothing travels until it is already meat.

The farm has been making this food for its own seven dogs for years, out of the trim it won't put in its own hamburger — in the farmer's words, "we won't put this meat in our own hamburger, so we don't do it to you either." Pasture to Paw is the online store that brings it to your door.

The honest version

How the cattle are raised.

Four things about this herd, in the farm's own words.

Attribute Freedom Range Farms
Grass finishing "Grass fed, grass finished… Pure beef!" — no grain finishing period at all.
Vaccines "Unvaccinated" vs conventional "Multi vaccinated."
Antibiotics & hormones Neither, ever. "Probiotics for stimulated immune system" in place of routine antibiotics.
Space & handling "Small groups (fewer than 100)" vs "Large confinement (10,000+)"; hand eviscerated, no chlorine baths.

A commodity supply chain can't tell you which animal. This one can — one farm, one herd, one butcher who works on the pasture, and a lot number on your label that goes back to a single animal.

The food

Two things. Both raw. Both from the same farm.

We would rather sell two products we can account for completely than a catalogue we can't.

Flagship

Whole-Animal Beef Blend

Muscle · organ · fat · ground bone

$8.33 / lb
  • Grass-fed, grass-finished Florida beef
  • Blended with heart, liver and kidney — the nutrient-dense parts most brands sell off
  • 10 lb minimum order, packed in 1 lb portions
  • Frozen in Osteen, delivered frozen
  • Single-lot traceable — one farm, one batch, one date

Labeled for intermittent or supplemental feeding only. Guaranteed analysis is printed on every lot.

Add-on

Pastured Chicken Necks

Raw meaty bone · whole or ground

$4.50 / lb
  • From the same farm's pastured, unvaccinated birds — no GMO feed
  • Sold in 2–3 lb bags, added to a beef order
  • Whole necks for medium and large dogs
  • Ground option for small dogs and puppies
  • Dogs work at them, which is most of the appeal

Feed raw only — never cooked. Cooking makes poultry bone brittle and splintery. Size the neck to the dog.

Subscribe and save 10%. Every two weeks or monthly — it's cheaper for you, and it's the only way we can plan supply with a farm that doesn't run a warehouse.

How it works

Farm to freezer, same day, frozen the whole way

Order online

10 lb minimum on the beef blend. Add necks at checkout — they ride along free, because the box is already going.

Packed in Osteen

Cut, blended, portioned and frozen solid at the farm's own station, with the lot date on the label. No warehouse, no middle step, no co-mingling.

Driven to you

A local driver takes it straight from Osteen to your door — typically inside the hour, so it arrives still frozen.

Straight to the freezer

Thaw a day's worth in the fridge overnight — never on the counter. Handling notes below.

Where we deliver

Our radius is limited by how long a frozen box stays frozen in a car. We would rather say no than send you a thawed box.

Deltona · 5.1 mi Enterprise · 6.5 mi Sanford · 7.9 mi DeBary · 10.1 mi Osteen · farm pickup

Orlando, Sorrento, Mount Dora and points west: not yet. Tell us where you are and we'll open the next zone where enough dogs are waiting.

Feeding & handling

Raw meat is raw meat. Treat it like you would your own.

Keep it frozen

Store at 0°F. Thaw one portion at a time in the refrigerator, never at room temperature. Use within 3 days of thawing. Don't refreeze.

Wash everything

Hands, bowls, counters, utensils — hot soapy water after every meal. Same rules you'd use for raw chicken in your own kitchen.

Some households shouldn't

If anyone in the home is pregnant, elderly, an infant, or immunocompromised — or if your dog is — talk to your veterinarian before feeding any raw diet.

Transition slowly

Swap in about a quarter of the new food for a few days, then half, then all of it over a week or two. Going all at once is the usual cause of a bad first week.

Intermittent or supplemental feeding only

This is a meat, organ and bone blend — it is not formulated to meet a complete nutrient profile and is not intended as a sole diet. Feed it as part of a diet your veterinarian has signed off on.

Questions

The ones worth answering

Is "grass-fed" the same as "grass-finished"?

No, and the gap is where most beef marketing lives. Nearly all cattle eat grass for the first year; "grass-fed" alone doesn't rule out a grain finishing period in a feedlot at the end, which is where most of the weight goes on. Grass-finished means it never happened. This beef is both.

Isn't raw feeding risky?

Raw meat can carry Salmonella and Listeria, for dogs and for the humans handling the bowl. We're not going to pretend otherwise — that's why the handling section above is written plainly instead of buried in a footer.

What we control: a single-farm supply traceable to a lot, cold chain from the farm to your door, no co-mingling. What you control: cold storage, clean surfaces, and a conversation with your vet.

Can you ship it to me?

No. Frozen raw meat needs an insulated box, dry ice and a one-to-two day service, and even then it can arrive soft. At small order sizes the shipping costs as much as the food. We deliver locally, frozen, in under an hour — or we don't sell to you yet.

Will it clean my dog's teeth or fix their coat?

We're not going to tell you that. Chewing a raw neck is mechanically abrasive and dogs plainly enjoy the work — that's a description of what happens, not a promise about periodontal disease. Ask your veterinarian.

If it's this good, why isn't it certified organic?

Because certification is a paid annual audit, and a farm this size hasn't bought one. It also wouldn't change the animal — on grass finishing, vaccination and herd size this farm is stricter than the organic rule. What it differs on is documentation, not practice.

Can I just buy from the farm directly?

Yes, and you should if you're near Osteen — Freedom Range Farms has a store and sells beef, pork, chicken, eggs, raw milk and quarter cow shares. What we add is the part the farm doesn't do: a consistent blend, portioning and labeling, a subscription so you never run out, and delivery to your door.
